One bright, sunny Sunday morning, the Devil
decided to make an appearance. Without further ado, he presented himself in the sanctuary at the 11:00 a.m. service. Well, you can just imagine the uproar as the Devil made his presence known to the entire 11 o'clock congregation. The people could not get out of the church fast enough. The Devil liked the results very much. But, much to his astonishment, a single Southern Baptist church member sat quietly in his front row pew seemingly taking no notice of the Devil at all. The Devil walked right up to this holier-than-thou Southern Baptist mortal and said to him, "Why are you not afraid of me?" The Southern Baptist mortal looked right into the eyes of the Devil and said, "I am not afraid of you!" "How can this be?" exclaimed the Devil. The Southern Baptist mortal got a big grin on his face. He winked at the Devil and said, "Because I have been married to your sister for the past 45 years."
